WFOL 2011 Treasure Hunt - 5

Correct!!
you decoded the message!

Oh, our sweet Interludes.

Vincent was just about to send Catherine his latest missive when he was struck with a thought – Father taught all the children about the Caesar Shift Cipher in their study of the Roman Empire. Each and every one of his couriers would easily guess the shift of three. Mouse as well.

He'd need to think of a code a tad more difficult to break.

A-ha Again!!

He could employ the cipher, he believed, but the shift (the number) could be known only to Catherine. Hmmm. What number would have significance for her and her alone?

Maybe you can guess.

What number do these two photographs have in common?

You know the answer, don't you?

So A would shift  ___  places to the right.    Under A you would print the letter ___

A B C D E F G H I K J L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Begin your code alphabet with the appropriate letter.
When you get to Z, begin again with A until you fill all 26 blanks.

Using the code you have written, decipher this message.
Part of the message - a phrase - will match a link on the sidebar.
Click it for your last puzzle.

U  XAZS  RAD  AGD  YQQFUZS  MF  ZUSTF

(teeny hint - a way to check if you've chosen the right number: There are only 2 commonly used one-letter words in the English language: I and a. In the coded message, the first word is a one-letter word. When you shift your alphabet to devise your code, does U correspond accordingly?  If you've shifted the correct number of letters, U should stand for either I or A.)

(If you're really stuck, there's another hint at the very bottom of the page)
